BNP Paribas is a bank that forms the foundation of French banking. Furthermore, it works hard to build a solid reputation and manages to stick it out through the toughest times. Also, with the help of the French government, the bank manages to brace the storms and still carry on to provide its millions of customers with the products and services they need.

When it comes to banking, there are different approaches across the world. Instead of foregoing the traditional structures entirely, the bank manages to create a perfectly balanced between traditional and modern. In conclusion, this provides clients with all the financial tools they may need.

History of BNP Paribas

The earliest roots of the bank go back as far as 1822 at the birth of the industrial revolution. Furthermore, the bank was founded by the Société Générale de Belgique which was the forerunner of the BNP Paribas Fortis. Although the bank was established in Brussels, the branching out into France happened in 1848. Also, a few years after this, the Franco-British treaty was signed. The bank also established operations in Shanghai and Calcutta in 1860.

In 1872 Banque Paris et des Pays-Bas (Paribas) established itself. Shortly after in 1889, the bank survived a stock market collapse. Furthermore, by 1898, three banks arranged finance for the largest public works construction sites. These three banks later made up BNP Paribas.

Economic situations continued to fluctuate but nothing prepared the world quite for what was to follow. Also, WWI was one of those events that left no bank or economy unscathed, even if just a little. BNP Paribas was one of these banks. Furthermore, it lent its help long after the war to try and strengthen the economy. WWII was short on its heels. BNP Paribas managed to leverage its knowledge of industry to try and restore France and other parts of Europe. It also managed to help French countries abroad.

Mid 1900s

From the fifties, banking started to change as different products made their appearance. This continued throughout the sixties and managed to set the tone for modern-day banking. It was also during this period where banking was more retail than corporate and the products changed to reflect this. The bank enjoyed a larger footprint and was gaining traction from branches across the world, including Africa. Modern banking includes the dematerialization of currency through electronic banking channels.

Customers do more and more of their transactions online and the need for a physical branch becomes less. The bank provides various platforms designed to ease banking.

The bank provides a solid foundation for customers from all walks of life. It’s committed to good service and also uses sound financial avenues where funding is considered. It has shown resilience in terms of financial crisis. Also, it helped rebuild France and other parts of Europe after both world wars. Furthermore, it is one of the few banks who felt it necessary to repay the bailout funds. Finally, the bank managed to keep its nose clean during tough times.

The platform is simple to use. Furthermore, customers will find it difficult to find a bank anywhere in the world that will satisfy their needs like this one. Also, it ticks all our boxes despite the lack of feedback from customers. All the information customers may require is at their fingertips.
