It is also a sequel to Deus Ex Human Revolution, released in 2011, a cyberpunk themed action role-playing videogame. The new release continues the narrative of the original and brings back in the spotlight some of the key characters, with new body augmentations and technologies.

- Deus Ex Mankind Divided gets players fully immersed in the narrative, thanks to its great voice acting and soundtrack.

The Deus Ex Mankind Divided games
Deus Ex Mankind Divided is essentially a single player game, with interactions being limited to those with AI controlled opponent. Players get familiar with the leading characters, learn the core game mechanics and hone their skills as they progress with these missions. Instead of being a prelude for multiplayer or co-op games, the single player campaign is the alpha and omega of Mankind Divided.
Deus Ex Mankind Divided games are surprisingly diverse, due to the fact that all objectives can be completed in various ways. Frontal assaults and violent choices are preferred by beginners, although savvy players are more likely to resort to sniping, stealth tactics and computer hacking. Most missions require them to use a plethora of strategies and incorporate all these elements to be successful.
The only shortcoming is that with so much freedom on their hands, players are in real danger of venturing too far from the traveled paths. By doing so, they miss entire areas and one would need to be extremely motivated to unlock the entire content. The decisions made by players will influence not only the outcome but also the manner in which the story unfolds. For instance, violent decisions will change certain aspects of the narrative, as opposed to nonviolent solutions.
The lasting replayability of Deus Ex
Deus Ex Human Revolution was special in that it allowed players to eliminate the main villains in the early missions, or leave them alive for the final chapters. This also influenced the manner in which characters interacted with the main hero and given its popularity, this element is expected to return. The unintended consequence is that players are also provided with the impetus to restart the campaign at least once, to see how things turn out if they act differently.
Multiplayer was an afterthought in the original game and Deus Ex Mankind Divided is not going to focus on player versus player combat. On the other hand, it is refreshing to know that three game modes were available in the prequel, so developers can build on that. Essentially they were all deathmatches that came in different flavors and these games were not even available on PlayStation 2.
What is Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Deus Ex Mankind Divided is an action role-playing game developed by Eidos Montréal and published by Square Enix, with an original cyberpunk theme. The first-person shooter is a sequel to Deus Ex Human Revolution, building on the tremendous popularity of the 2011 release. The videogame is played mostly from first-person perspective, with players shifting to 3rd person perspective when using the cover system.
Gameplay of Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Deus Ex Mankind Divided is basically a first-person shooter, but it has enough stealth and sniping elements to transcend the videogame genre. The cyberpunk themed game encourages players to take advantage of these mechanics and find more convenient alternatives to brute force. Camera moves freely from the first person to third person perspective, so that players can better see the environment.
At the cornerstone of the Deus Ex Mankind Divided gameplay is the use of nanotechnology, as the leading character is augmented in this way. Performing extraordinary actions that are well outside the ability of regular humans make him special and also capable of taking on other augmented people. There is no shortage of role-playing elements in the new installment and players can customize their characters.
A combat focused hero, well versed in the art of wielding various weapons will benefit from customizing these guns and attaching silencers, laser sights and scopes. The complexity of Deus Ex Mankind Divided gameplay shines brightly in this regard, as players are allowed to upgrade their gear to suit their strategy. Not all modifications are possible to all weapons and they pale in comparison to the importance of nano-augmentations. All of them will boost the abilities of players and grant the character unique traits.
Choose your side
It is essential to interact with nonplayer characters in Deus Ex Mankind Divided and in order to make these moments special, developers have added great looking cut scenes. This is when the decisions made by players in the previous chapters are more obvious, as they alter the plot as well as the gameplay. When negotiation is not possible, players go to war and combat is fast paced, just like it is in other first-person shooters. Great reflexes are needed, but one also needs to have the right strategy to prevail.
As the single player campaign advances and players unlock better gear and superior nano-augmentations, they can assume different roles. Some choose to perform as damage dealers, while others opt in for those improvements that would make them capable of withstanding more damage. The heads-up display returns to Deus Ex Mankind Divided in an updated version that makes each shot more predictable.
In Deus Ex Mankind Divided the difference between standard guns and upgraded weapons are evident, making it worth increasing the character’s proficiency with guns. There are dozens of weapons to choose from and also a nice selection of nonlethal ones, for those who prefer a more sensible approach.
Plot of Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Deus Ex Mankind Divided action takes place in 2029, in a world where augmented people are persecuted by the regular ones called “naturals”. The Illuminati are leading this crusade and things are about to go out of hand, when Adam Jensen returns into the spotlight. There is more than meets the eye about this tense climax and all those involved seem to have a hidden agenda.
The Deus Ex Mankind Divided plot takes place mostly in the Czech Republic’s capital, two years after the memorable events of Deus Ex Human Revolution. Developers refused to reveal too much about how the storyline evolves in the latter stages, not to mention that the campaign changes depending on the decisions made by players. If past performance is an indicator of what this installment will bring, we are entitled to be optimistic about the narrative progression and expect a fantastic ending.
Development of Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Deus Ex Mankind Divided was rumored in 2013, two years after the tremendous success of the prequel. Available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows, it features a new game engine that goes by the name of Dawn Engine and the trailer was unveiled in April 2015. Set for international release in 2016, it was aimed at the same audience that was anxiously waiting for Hitman. The videogame was developed using the Glacier 2 game engine, the one that Dawn Engine was based on.
Where can I download Deus Ex Mankind Divided?
Deus Ex Mankind Divided can be pre-ordered from Square Enix and immediately after the official release, it will be available for download on the official website. This is also a great moment for fans of the franchise to purchase the prequel and even experience the thrills of the original Deus Ex title.
What are others saying about Deus Ex Mankind Divided?
The game itself enjoyed great reviews from both critics and players, with the only criticism drawn by Deus Ex Mankind Divided being in regard to the preorder system. It was eventually dropped and there were no more negative reactions, only a growing sense of anticipation. Eidos Montréal managed to capture the very essence of the prequel and Square Enix is sold even more copies in 2016.
Deus Ex Mankind Divided tournaments
Deus Ex Mankind Divided will have a multiplayer mode and it will probably be better than the one in Deus Ex Human Revolution. Having said this, it is far-fetched to hope for Deus Ex Mankind Divided tournaments, so those who seek the thrills of first-person shooters in the eSports arena should stick to Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Counter Strike Global Offensive.
My rating of Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Deus Ex Human Revolution was a great game even though it didn’t cause the same reactions as the original released in the year 2000. I don’t expect Deus Ex Mankind Divided to match its popularity either, but I strongly believe that the sequel will be a worthy heir to the franchise. A highly replayable single player campaign, a better multiplayer and an overall impressive gameplay warrant a review score of 9/10.
