The Naruto Shippuden games

Naruto Shippuden is an action-packed game, with players using special attacks and combo moves to prevail in a wide arena. Ninja wall runs are possible in some games and in addition to melee and ranged attacks, players can use throwable weapons. Managing the chakra is a key part of the game, given the fact that the vast majority of the special abilities can’t be performed if it drops below certain levels.

The Naruto Shippuden games are more complex than they seem, with players having to choose between a broad spectrum of abilities. Not all of them serve offensive purposes, with some helping players teleport out of the way of aggressive players. It is even possible to use teleport when caught between a rock and a hard place, while making use of special items that enhance special abilities. The ninja awakening temporary boosts these abilities, although for a very limited period of time.

The complexity of the Naruto Shippuden games also resides in the fact that players have three characters in the group. To be truly competitive one would have to master all the move sets and shift through them quickly went necessary. It’s a lot of information to take in for amateurs and the added pressure of managing chakra further complicates matters. Specific combinations will unlock additional attack skills and when performed in the right order, they can inflict devastating damage upon opponents.

Players can use significant quantities of Choco when the Storm meter fills up to maximize the damage and perform a linked super technique. These require the combined strength of all three characters, which explains why so few players actually perform these moves in real games. Difficult as they seem, they are immensely rewarding and visually pleasing.

What is Naruto Shippuden

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is the last and final installment in the franchise, concluding the adventures of the central character. It builds on the popularity of the previous games, while introducing new game concepts and pitting 3 players against just as many opponents. Developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco it was met with critical acclaim and it can be enjoyed on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

Gameplay of Naruto Shippuden

The Naruto Shippuden gameplay has changed very little if compared to the previous games in the franchise. A few new features were introduced and a couple of popular ones made a return after missing from the Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Players are invited to tackle different angles and attack opponents from all sides of the arena, having the ability of running on walls for a short period of time.

The complexity of the gameplay resides in the fact that players have to control 3 distinct characters and use their combined strength to overpower opponents. Players can shift between the characters in their team to inflict serious damage upon unsuspecting foes, but this requires perfect timing. The Ultimate Jutsu and Awakenings features return to the Naruto Shippuden and are shared between characters.

The gameplay of Naruto Shippuden allows players to use weapons and these can also be thrown at a reasonable distance. Such an action won’t result in massive damage, but it can be effective under those circumstances in which one player is low on hit points. Elemental damage was introduced and fire will burn away clothing, with players being supposed to avoid or extinguish the fire with water attacks.

Plot of Naruto Shippuden

Naruto Shippuden has an exciting storyline featuring most of the characters that appear in the game and starting in the middle of the Fourth Shinobi World War. It pits the Allied Shinobi Forces against the Tobi forces and their Madara Uchiha, with Naruto fighting for the former. As the narrative advances, more characters are thrown into the mix and the protagonist fight increasingly powerful opponents. The purpose of this approach is to get players familiar with the characters they will be facing in the arenas.

Boss fights such as the one against the demon Ten Tails will keep players at the edge of their seats and give some consistency to the storyline. There are powerful and emotional moments in the narrative, in which central characters sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Protecting the Divine Tree from which the chakra original names as well as other meaningful goals will keep players motivated.

Naruto and Sasuke enlist the assistance of powerful allies, but the most important aid comes from Hagoromo. He grants them all his powers, hoping that by doing so they will be strong enough to defeat Madara and put in and to the terrible war. They manage to transform him into Kaguya and fight him across several dimensions, eventually prevailing at a great personal cost. The game also has an epilogue which wraps up the entire storyline, but in between players have access to various side quests. They are quite exciting and by completing them, players will almost double the time spent playing.

Development of Naruto Shippuden

Hiroshi Matsuyama invested a lot of time and energy in the Naruto Shippuden series, hoping to come up with a long-lasting title. The latest installment brought significant changes to the celebrated combat mechanics, while introducing new strategies. Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 was developed while paying attention to the requests and suggestions made by the fans. The team stayed in touch with the gaming community and not surprisingly when the game was released, it was well received by the audience.

The slight delays were caused by the fact that the roster was expanded several times, to include additional characters. Naruto Shippuden brought back some of the game mechanics that missed altogether from the prequel, but were available in the previous titles. The emphasis was placed on coming up with a game that is more authentic and the effort caused the game to only hit the stores in February 2016 instead of 2015.

My rating of Naruto Shippuden

Playing the last game in a celebrated franchise feels like reading the last chapter of a great book. It generates mixed feelings and even though you appreciate the experience to the fullest, you know that there won’t be a sequel. As far as I’m concerned Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 brilliantly wraps up a successful series. I’d like to see more, but I’ll settle for what I just got and would like to show my praise for the developers for a well-done game with a rating of 9 out of 10.
