This is one of the few FPS games played at the highest level in international competitions running on PlayStation 4. The corresponding eSports competitions have big prizes and winners walk away with significant amounts and also glory.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is generally regarded as an improvement of its predecessors. The biggest strides were made in terms of gameplay, which is more balanced thanks to the addition of new gear. Most of the weapons have remained unchanged, but there are new maps for both single player and multiplayer. Players also have the option of completing missions together in cooperative mode.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 wraps off the series of science-fiction FPS games and is mostly a game for multiplayer. It allows a total of four players joining forces to complete quests, or they can take it to the online arena. The game scored high marks with both first-person shooter fans and those who played all the games in the franchise. The few complaints were issued in regard to the short single player campaign.

Players have the option of playing on different difficulty levels and unlock superior gear and weapons. Quests and missions can be completed in several ways and the Nightmares mode is a welcomed diversion for those who enjoy horror stories. It deviates from the main campaign and will pit players against mindless zombies who tried to overrun them.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

F.E.A.R. 3 has a longer single player campaign, with more missions and plenty of exciting side quests. The upside is that players can switch between the two central characters and complete the missions in a different way. Basically, this game has two mission sets wrapped up under the same name, so players spend twice as much time. The multiplayer pits players against each other or they can play in co-op.

Battlefield 4

Battlefield 4 was developed by EA Digital Illusions and published by Electronic Arts in 2013. It walks down the same traveled paths as its predecessors, checking all the boxes. It has a strong narrative, a complex and highly entertaining gameplay and some of the best visuals in the FPS games industry. The best part is that players enjoy the same graphics and sounds on Xbox One and PCs.

Some of his teammates from the previous installments are brought back in the spotlight, to fight the bad guys. The developers have introduced new MP modes for those who have honed their skills in the prequels.

The single player campaign is every bit as exciting as the mission set that kept fans of the franchise at the edge of their seats in the past. Halo 5 has complex levels and maps that are a pleasure to explore on foot or in vehicles. The first-person shooter was a massive commercial success and continues to exercise the same fascination thanks to its Warzone’s maps.

Gears of War 4

Gears of War 4 is a hybrid between a third person shooter videogame and a classic FPS. It was developed by The Coalition in partnership with Microsoft and can only be played on Xbox consoles. It draws inspiration from the previous installments but it is purposely darker and gloomier. Developers wanted to re-create the atmosphere that players appreciate it so much when playing the original game.

Its horror elements explain why it was so popular in single player and why people intentionally delay switching to multiplayer. The leveling system is intelligent and highly addictive, closely resembling the ones in RPG’s. Players start from scratch and slowly move up the chain, unlocking better weapons and gear. As they hold their abilities, they become better at fending off the Locust invaders.
